The Centre for Research and Technology – Hellas (CE.R.T.H.) is a legal, non-profit entity organized under private law, under the auspices of the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT), of the Greek Ministry of Development.
CE.R.T.H. was founded in March 2000, with the mission to carry out basic and applied technology-oriented research and to develop new products and services with industrial, economic and social impact, with special emphasis in exploiting research results and in providing services for the R&D support of production process and the financial and social development especially in the fields:
(a) Chemical & Physical process engineering
(b) Information, Telematics and Telecommunications
(c) Agrobiotechnology with emphasis on biotechnological application in the food production cycle and
(d) Transportation
(e) Technology for exploitation of solid fuels and their by-products
CE.R.T.H is sited in Thessaloniki and is housed in privately owned diggings in Thermi (Thessaloniki Technology Park – T.T.P.) and its structure includes the Central Directorate and five Research Institutes:
· Chemical Process Engineering Research Institute - C.P.E.R.I (founded in 1985)
· Informatics & Telematics Institute - I.T.I. (founded in 1998)
· Hellenic Institute of Transport - H.I.T. (founded in 2000)
· Institute of Agrobiotechnology - IN.A. (founded in 2000)
· Institute for Solid Fuels Technology & Applications - I.S.F.T.A. (founded in 1987)
The annual turnover for CE.R.T.H. is close to 13 million Euro. CE.R.T.H. employs today 270 people of various specialties.
